One Direction fans know Liam Payne as the group’s nicknamed “Daddy Directioner,” but that title’s about to be assumed by Louis Tomlinson.

People reports Tomlinson is expecting a baby with Briana Jungwirth, a Los Angeles-based stylist he met through mutual friends earlier this year.

A source close to the couple tells People, “Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother. It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer.”

The source added Tomlinson and Jungwirth, both 23, are not in a relationship, but are good friends. The 1D singer split from his longtime girlfriend Eleanor Calder in March.

Needless to say, this “unexpected” announcement comes during an already turbulent time for 1D, who downsized to four members after Zayn Malik parted ways with them in March. The group kicked off the North American leg of their On The Road Again Tour last week and are scheduled to travel throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe through the end of October.

However, despite Tomlinson’s busy touring schedule — as well as 1D’s upcoming fifth studio album — People reports Tomlinson plans on being a “hands-on dad” when the baby arrives early next year.

Tomlinson is the older brother to a total of six siblings, so we can only assume he already has his diaper skills down pat.
